AnueNue aNN-MBS14E All Solid Steel String Ukulele Bass
aNueNue have taken their beautiful moon bird styling from their acoustic uke series and applied it to a short scale bass, the electro-acoustic aNN-MBS14E. The bass is constructed from all solid tonewoods, cedar for the top and golden-stained mahogany on the back and sides, nicely complimented by rosewood binding, which also features on the headstock cap, shaped bridge, binding and fingerboard. A removable rosewood thumbrest is also included in the package, alongside a very durable gig bag.
The jack input for the active Bass Space pickup doubles as strap button, while the other end of your strap can be attached to the button at the butt of the neck. There are tone and volume controls just inside the soundhole (which are often fiddly on a uke - but with this offset soundhole, they’re very accessible).
The acoustic tone with the steel wound strings is easily suitable for practice alone, while it’ll also stand up to an acoustic uke or two if you are accompanying others. Plugged it and it sounds very impressive - capable of a rounded, rolling tones or zippy direct sound, depending on the tone control positions.
The whole thing is a delight to hold and play, and its size is large enough for a fuller sound, without being big enough to spoil the aesthetic as an instrument suitable for a ukulele group or band (scale length 24 inches, total length 35.5 inches).
