BIG BOAT ON THE THAMES

Ahoy there! Shiver Me Timbers! And lots more nautical terms that, given this is a fantastic day out on the Thames, not the ocean, are not really appropriate!

Big Boat on the Thames gives ukulele players a wonderful day in the capital, beginning with a boat trip aboard the Dixie Queen, the largest entertainment vessel on the river. On 2 April 2016, we'll board this craft at 10am at Canary Wharf pier, taking a leisurely cruise out to the Thames Barrier, before heading back towards the centre of the city. During this time, we'll learn some skills with the amazing Ben Rouse and his on-board workshop. We'll also have a live performance from the quirky and talented, The Martini Encounter. And before we reach our destination, travelling underneath a raised Tower Bridge, we'll have a lovely light lunch to keep us going!

After learning and listening, we'll be eager for some playing when we alight at Tower Pier. A short walk past the Tower of London and over the bridge to Potters Fields Park will get us in the mood for a big strum and singalong out in the open air. With songbooks provided, we'll all sing and play (more or less!) together.

Our party will then transfer to three vintage London buses for a tour around London, looking at the sights and playing as we go if you wish! We'll take in all the major attractions, travelling in style, before making our way back to Canary Wharf and its glistening towers. After a spell of free time to get ready for the evening, we'll meet at the Hilton Hotel for a drinks reception. Then, we'll enjoy a three course banquet, followed by live performances from hosts Feckless & Fuddle, The Martini Encounter, Dead Mans Uke and Ben Rouse!

A wonderful day out, and more than a ukulele event - a life experience that will be remembered forever. Imagine sitting on deck jamming along with your friends and singing as the boat slides past the Shard. Or sitting on the top deck of a double decker playing Queen songs as you pass by Buckingham Palace! All of this, with all your food, bands, workshop, performances and travel thrown in! Fantastic value at £125.

We also have some great savings on accommodation, with one and two night stays at the Hilton Canary Wharf available, at around two thirds the cost of their regular cheapest rate based on two people sharing. Or, travel down on the day, choose a budget hotel nearby or stay with friends... just make sure you're all aboard the Big Boat on the Thames!
