Kala KA-ASAC-T8E Mi-Si Equipped Electro 8 String Ukulele
PLEASE NOTE - THE £499 PRICE IS A SPECIAL DEAL AND CAN'T BE USED WITH DISCOUNT CODES
This was an in-store experiment to see what happens if you combine the Kala KA-ASAC-T8 (the 8 string version of the tenor used by George from the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain), and the Mi-Si active preamp with LR Biggs pre-amp (as used by me). Why? Well, a) I thought it would be great. b) Now it is done, I've been proved right about a) and c) it was a way of getting me and the Ukulele Orchestra into the same sentence, as if I was a member!
All solid acacia body, Aquila strings and a truly professional level Mi-Si Acoustic Trio pre-amp. I absolutely LOVE mine. So clear and true.
And not only is this a gig-ready 8 string for a serious musician (or someone who loves nice stuff!), it is a real bargain too. Have a look online for the KA-ASAC-T8 and you'll see prices between £430 and £480. Then look up the Mi-Si acoustic trio and you'll see it in the region of £115 (a crazy price itself as that's pretty much trade price). Add in fitting by someone competent (in this case a luthier from Overwater Guitars - conveniently near me), and you'll start to see that this is a seriously good instrument at a seriously good price!
If you don't know the Mi-Si, it has a jack input at the base of the uke (doubling as a strap button), with the volume and tone controlled via your amp or PA. The system is active (i.e. boosted so you don't need a seperate pre-amp/DI), but is done so with a battery that you charge with an adaptor. This is provided, and is basically an electric plug on one end and a jack plug on the other. Plug both in for a minute and you get 12 hours play!
