Kala KA-EBY-TE Ebony Tenor Electro Ukulele
This Kala KA-EBY-TE is a handsome looking tenor uke, with the laminate ebony displaying some lovely streaks in its grain. Maple is used for the binding, a perfect constrast to the rich brown ebony.
With rosewood no longer being used for ukulele fingerboads and bridges, Kala have opted to use walnut instead. Its lighter tones can take some getting used to, lookswise, but with the dark ebony in use here, it looks good.
The KA-EBY-TE is fitted with Aquila strings, a Graphtech NuBone nut and good quality open geared tuners. The pre-amp, Kala's own UK-300TR system, features tone and volume controls and a handy built-in tuner.
The tone is quite bright, with plenty of volume and punch, and it plays nicely too. In conclusion, it gives you a nice looking, relatively inexpensive tenor with the versatility of being able to plug in, without compromising on good looks.
