The Baton Rouge UR-71C concert uke has a solid redwood top, which is paired with laminate spalted maple, both of which are striking - giving a really different look to this instrument. Baton Rouge are noted for making good quality instruments at an affordable price, and while that solid Australian redwood top does increase the price a little - when you compare it to many ukes at this price point (often all laminate), it doesn’t cost the earth.

Like many Baton Rouge models, the UR71C has a slightly arched back, which is both tactile and also gives a slightly more rounded, softer edge to the tone. With Aquila strings, and the projection from the solid top, there’s plenty of volume and clarity too - just with a touch of mellow tone that is very pleasant.
