Flight Voyager All Solid Wide Neck Tenor Electro Ukulele
This instrument is no longer sold by World of Ukes, except by special order. I have encounted too many issues with the pickup to hold it in stock regularly - I can get one (and check it, obviously), but I have to stop short of recommending it.
The Flight Voyager electro tenor ukulele is made from solid spruce and acacia, in a good value package with a pickup installed too,
with a wide 38mm nut for those who like a bit more room on the fingerboard.
I’ve ordered custom ukuleles before with order forms with have all the various options on to choose from. In the case of the Flight Voyager tenor electro, it’s as if this process has taken place and every box has been ticked! There’s an ebony bevelled comfort edge, an interesting, futuristic looking headstock, clear fluorocarbon strings, an abalone soundhole inlay, black binding, and a Double brand active pickup with soundhole-accessed tone and volume controls. Lots and lots of stuff!
Away from all of that kit is an attractive tenor uke with a nice, well-projected tone. The sound is versatile depending on your style, with bright, percussive trebles when you go hard, and a chiming, smooth tone when you are a little more gentle. The pickup performs well for a relatively expensive unit too (for context, the pickup I use, a Mi-Si, is close to £200 on its own).
It feels good in your hands and plays nicely too. In fairness, having mentioned elsewhere on this website that I play a 35mm nut ukulele, I should say here that this one is a touch wider than I normally like. But if you have larger fingers or are struggling with a thinner neck uke, this is a good option.
There’s a quick video demo of the Flight Voyager tenor ukulele (played acoustically) if you click additional info below.
