This all solid, gloss finish Pono tenor is part of their deluxe series, and it really is a peach. Or a mango. Puns aside, this pineapple body Pono is lovely to listen to, with a tone that is sweet in the highs and bassy in the lows - a lovely balance. Regular Pono tenors, delicious as they sound, are on the delicate side, while this fuller body delivers a little bit more oomph, while retaining that impressive, melodic style.

With just a simple soundhole rosette in terms of decoration, the star of the show is the mango wood, with its creamy colours and dark pores, which looks really attractive. There are great quality Grover tuners, an ebony fingerboard and headstock cap, Ko’olau strings (nice and smooth feeling), and a bone nut and saddle that aids the sustain.
