This is an a baritone ukulele, with a passive pickup and an all brass body, provided in a range of finishes by Kala.

Just for reference, those finishes are Antique Copper (KA-RES-COP-B-E_W/BAG), Matte Black (KA-RES-MBK-B-E_W/BAG), Brushed Nickel (KA-RES-BNI-B-E_W/BAG) and Raw Copper (KA-RES-BCR-B-E_W/BAG). If you look at the Kala ukulele codes and what the finishes are, you can see there’s some logic there - even if those product codes hardly roll off the tongue!

These are baritone scale instruments, tuned DGBE and fitted with Aquila super nylgut strings. The body is quite petite, so they’re really different from the tenor equivalent in scale length, not in volume. They sound different to the tenors on account of the tuning, of course. There’s a metallic rasp the noise, as you’d expect, with a clipped, cutting, resonator tone.

The Kala resonator ukulele has a passive piezo pickup, giving a natural, authentic tone (after all, if you're going for a resonator, you want that natural rasp, rather than an over-produced, smoother tone through the small pre-amp that a passive pickup would give you). Of course, with a passive pickup the signal to the amp is lower, so you'll want to turn your amp up a little more than an equivalent instrument with a battery in... but I am sure you can manage that!'

They are equipped with a strap button at the bottom, with a jack input slightly to one side (making them not really suitable for conversion to left handed, unless you want the jack socket jabbing in your armpit!). They do come with a nice grey padded gig bag too. The nut width is 35mm - not as wide as baritones often are.

At the bottom of the page there are various optional extras, which are standard across all ukuleles on the website. You can add a second strap button if you wish - but you can ignore most of the others. It has a gig bag, comes DGBE (rendering the ‘add low G’ option irrelevant as it has a low D and G!), and hard cases for baritones will be a bit roomy on account of the petite body.
