Ohana BK-35G All Solid Mahogany Baritone Ukulele
The Ohana BK-35G is a nice, lightly-built, fairly compact baritone ukulele - a ukulele that’s been around for a number of years and has been a reliable performer for many a player in that time. It has an all solid mahogany body, with a gloss finish, with walnut binding, black and white purfling and a simple, classy white soundhole decoration.
The sound is rounded, yet controlled. It seems quite crisp and articulate, rather than big and boomy like many of the modern trend of big-bodied baritones can sound. It’s nice for chord melody in particular, with the B and the E not overly dominated by the bassy D and G, giving a nicely balanced sound.
The nut width is 38mm, and the neck profile isn’t too thick - with the ukulele not offering any challenges in its playability - it just feels ‘normal’. The bridge and fingerboard are hard wearing hardwood, ovangkol in this case. Aquila strings, with a wound D and G, are fitted.
This is one of those instruments that perhaps doesn’t dazzle in any one area, but does everything well. A great all rounder.
At the bottom of the page you can find a variety of optional extras. You can ignore the ‘add low G’ option, as there’s already a low G (and even lower D for that matter). But you can think about cases, bags and strap buttons if you wish.
