Pono ABD Deluxe All Solid Acacia Baritone Ukulele
This is the Pono ABD, which stands for Acacia Baritone Deluxe, a classy all solid ukulele made from acacia, with a gloss finish. I am a fan of Pono's baritone series. They're robustly and solidly built, which in the other sizes can lead to a bit of a lack of punch - but it suits the baritones which are controlled and warm, with lots of lovely harmonics and a pleasing richness. I've already said classy in this description, but it really seems apt, so I've said it again.
The acacia grain is lovely, and really shines under the gloss finish. It is tuned like a regular baritone, DGBE, with Ko'Olau Alohi strings fitted, with the two bass strings metal wound. As you'd expect from a baritone, there's a good bass response, but the trebles have some subtle sparkle too. It feels nice in your hands, with a 35mm nut with and a truss rod for neck adjustments.
The ABD is equipped with great quality Grover open geared tuners and an unflashy soundhole decoration for a... you guessed it, classy look.
There's a video demo of this instrument if you click additional info below, part of a comparison of 3 different baritone uke sizes that Pono produce.
