Pono ABSH-SP All Solid Spruce and Acacia Baritone Ukulele
This gorgeous Pono ABSH-SP is an all solid baritone ukulele of distinction, and one of the few models available for discerning players who want something above the intermediate grade, but don’t want to venture into the elite level K-brand four figure price range.
This one is made from lovely, pale, tight-grained spruce, paired with solid, nicely-grained acacia back and sides. Both look lovely under the flawless gloss finish. These are separated with dark binding, with an ebony fingerboard (35mm nut width) and bridge, plus a stylish slotted headstock. The tuners are top quality Grover geared models, with Ko’olau strings fitted, with DGBE tuning and two wound bass strings.
The tone is mellow and rich when you strum with your thumb, with some spruce attack and brightness when you dig in. It’s subtle when you want it to be, but give some hard strumming and the volume is big and impressive. The sustain really stands out to - this thing rings and rings.
If you’re looking for a better baritone, but don’t want to break out into £1,000 plus territory - this Pono ABSH SP is a great choice.
