aNueNue UC10-BB Black Beauty Solid Top Concert Ukulele
This is the aNueNue UC10-BB concert ukulele, with the BB standing for ‘black beauty’. That’s a fancy way of saying ‘black’. The colour on the top is a satin black, which is above a solid spruce front. The back and sides are laminate mahogany. If you look at the price and take away all of this aNueNue concert uke’s interesting visual effects - it would still be a decently priced instrument. That’s a good way to look at it, and if you like it’s appearance, everything else becomes a bit of a bonus. True, it must cost a bit extra to have this decoration, but it’s priced in a way that doesn’t make you feel you’re paying through the nose for it to look fancier.
The UC-10 has geared tuners, a 36mm nut width, a rosewood fingerboard and bridge and is fitted with fluorocarbon aNueNue clear water strings. I do lower the action a touch to make them nice and playable, and the result is a uke that looks unusual but plays in a comfortable and easy way - with no challenges. It’s a normal uke, despite it not looking normal.
The sound is crisp and clear, loud and articulate. As you often find with spruce, there’s some really good projection and the trebles come to the fore. But it’s a good, solid sound - not thin-sounding, despite that brightness.
The aNueNue UC10 comes with an excellent, stylish and padded gig bag. For other common add-ons, like a strap button or a low G fitting, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you’ll find these options available to add to your basket.
