The aNueNue UC10-IG is a striking looking ukulele, with a solid spruce top in a satin, cool, minty green finish, paired with laminate mahogany back and sides. There are so many visual features to talk about, but with something like this, the main thing to do is state that this, at its price point, is a fine sounding ukulele. It might look ‘out there’, but rest assured it sounds great. If you’re not a fan of the looks? Obviously not for you. But if something like this, that is unique, does appeal, you can look different but still sound good!

I confess to be being surprised at the sound, and how even with the finish, the solid spruce still allows the sound to ring out and ring true. As well as good volume and sustain, the balance is excellent - each string stands out distinctly from the others and, in particular, plays well and with lots of volume, up the neck. While the sound of spruce is typically bright, and this is no exception, that brightness isn’t overwhelming, and the tone fills out nicely with a good helping of richness. Bright then, but not thin.

Maple has been used for the bridge, and the UC10-IG from aNueNue has clear fluorocarbon strings (their own, excellent clear water brand). There’s a maple fingerboard and a maple faced headstock, which has good geared tuners fitted. Another unusual feature is the slightly raised scratchplate. Cleverly this has a printed texture on it which matches the beautiful gig bag this aNueNue Colour Series concert ukulele is supplied with. If you don't like it, you can easily peel it off without damaging the paint.
