This is the Millar TM-240WG, an all solid mahogany concert ukulele with gloss finish. With richness from that mahogany, and crispness from the fitted Worth Brown strings, it offers a best of both world's scenario. In fact, it's almost a ukulele with a split personality - as if you're playing two ukuleles at once that come together in harmony, with those dark and light tones working so well together.

Versatility is also a factor with the TM-240WG, with chords sounding full and bold, but melodies able to be crisp and delicate. It reminds me of the higher end Kiwaya mahogany models (the more modern design, Strummer Series), with that marriage of depth and crispness. It really is a lovely thing!

The mahogany used is very attractive, with plenty of nice grain on show - making use of the best quality wood to get the most visual flair. This is highlighted by maple and ebony rope binding separating the sides from the top and the back, as well as around the soundhole and mahogany veneer on the headstock. Korean made, great quality open geared tuners are fitted, finished in gold and with smooth black buttons. Completing the specification is a rosewood fingerboard and bone 35mm but and saddle.

There's an understanding that mahogany equals warmth, and that holds true, but here we have a concert ukulele that delivers different dimensions of sound too - with rippling waves of sparkling richness, crisp trebles and strong lows too.
