This is the Ohana PKC-220G, an all solid mango concert ukulele with pineapple body shape. The solid mango tonewood has a rich and varied gran, with a golden stain that shimmers under the gloss finish. There’s plenty of abalone details too, if the gloss and the mango weren’t sparkly enough! Add in some hardwood binding and it’s certainly a show stopper.

This concert model was added to Ohana’s all solid mango range after the success of their tenor model, the PKT-220G, which has been really popular. With the pineapple body shape, you get more bass response, added into the mango’s natural sweetness of tone, for a pleasant balance between high and low. The shape gives a more mellow tone than the equivalent sound you’d get from a standard body concert, giving a more tenor-esque sound to this concert instrument.

The PKC-220G from Ohana Ukuleles has an ovangkol fingerboard, a bone nut (35mm) and saddle and good quality, smooth-turning geared tuners. The strings are Aquila and while not regularly my favourites, it does sound good with that choice. Yes, personally speaking I think it’d sound even better with fluorocarbons on… but then… I would say that about pretty much everything and I know strings are a very personal choice.

There are a number of standard add-ons at the bottom of the page, beneath the pictures, like strap buttons and low G fitting. While you can order a gig bag too (the PKC-220G isn’t supplied with one), the option for a hard case sadly isn’t available as it won’t fit a hard case like it will a standard concert uke gig bag.
