'Oli L1-CMG All Solid Mango Concert Gloss Ukulele
This is a very pretty ‘Oli concert ukulele, with an all solid mango body, gloss finish and an excellent, rugged hard case. The mango delivers a warmth and sweetness, which is very nicely balanced. With this concert sized uke, compared to the tenors they make, that sweet clarity is a little more prominent in the mix, making it sound particularly nice when picked, with good note separation. Strummed it’s no slouch either, with a good chiming quality and nice sustain.
The gloss is well excecuted, but that finish doesn’t extend over the neck - where the back of the neck is a smooth satin. The tuners are top drawer Gotoh UPT’s and the strings are high G ‘Oli/Ukelogic fluorocarbons which are extremely pleasant - smooth to the touch and bright without being shrill (I like those!).
The nut width is advertised as 37mm elsewhere but I measure 36.5mm, which gives a touch more room - noticeable if you have larger fingers, but not so much above standard that anyone used to 35mm is going to struggle. (We’re talking mm here, so the differences are small).
The ‘Oli brand is the brainchild of the people behind the Ukulele Site in Hawaii, and they’ve poured their experience into creating this, using a factory in Indonesia. They’ve done a great job, with modern features like the side soundport, attractive-yet-subtle decorations and a radius fretboard. All good stuff!
At the bottom of the page are various extras. In this case, you can ignore the case options as it comes with an excellent one!
