This is a new, trans-black finish concert model from Risa. It marks the 20th anniversary of both Risa Ukuleles and the innovative UkeSolid model, which was prototyped two decades ago. It certainly stands the test of the time, with the improvements over the years making this a great sounding, serviceable and surprisingly easy playing ukulele (given the whacky design, it plays very well!)

Made from solid maple, with a good quality passive pickup, the Risa UkeSolid is a ukulele for plugging in. Without an amp it is suitable for quiet practice - giving enough volume for you to hear yourself without disturbing others - but it really comes alive when plugged in.

It has planetary style, good quality friction pegs, and is fitted with clear fluorocarbon strings. It comes with a fitted gig bag, which has a carrying strap that you can clip off the bag, and onto the two fitted strap buttons on the uke.

When we look back on this century’s wave of popularity of the ukulele, the Risa UkeSolid will be one instrument that’s spoken about in terms of its modern approach and a sign of the innovation that helped keep that wave of popularity going. It’s a design classic, and a great uke to play.
