Singer RC1M-TS All Solid Mahogany Concert Ukulele by aNueNue
Singer is a brand made by aNueNue, to the same exacting standards as they usually provide, but with more of a nod towards vintage style ukuleles. This RC1M-TS has an all solid mahogany body, with a pleasing tobacco sunburst under the gloss finish, allowing the mahogany grain to show through. There’s a stylish headstock and rear facing tuners to continue the more retro theme (although they’re Gotoh UPT geared tuners, so the height of modern design, just that they weigh less and look traditional).
While the Singer RC1M-TS concert ukulele is more vintage inspired, with bracing designed to bring out warm tones, there’s definitely enough of aNueNue’s modern approach to ukulele building to maintain ample sustain and clarity too, giving a lovely balance between old and new. The tone is warm, from the solid mahogany, and sweet, from the thin top and aNueNue Black Water fluorcarbon strings. The tone is somehow mature, full, rich and yet with enough sparkle for carrying melodies. It’s very good indeed.
This is a concert uke that feels very playable. While supplied with an average action, I lower it to provide extra comfort - something that’s enhanced by the slightly radiussed fretboard. So, with its abalone decoration, hardwood binding, ebony fingerboard, warm sunburst finish and sweet warmth it’s a great combination of playability, attractiveness and stellar sound. The nut width is 36mm.
At the bottom of the page, you’ll find various easy-to-add optional extras, like a strap button or low G fitting. You can ignore the standard option of adding a hard case though, as this comes in a stylish dark green hard case that’s as classy as the uke is.
