Breedlove Lu'au Acoustic Concert Ukulele Natural Shadow
Unfortunately this model is discontinued and no longer available.
Breedlove are a North American company, who design their instruments in Bend, Oregon. Founded by Kim Breedlove, who recently stepped down from running the company to serve as master luthier and designer. His designs have been made in far-east factories, keeping the essence of their North American feel, with Chinese value for money.
The Lu'au series of concert ukuleles have solid tops, and attractive laminate back and sides. This 'Natural Shadow' model has a solid myrtle top, like many of the instruments made in the Oregon workshop. The tone is quite mellow, with a great low end, while still being responsive and clear at the upper end of the tonal spectrum.
This Lu'au concert has imitation tortoiseshell binding and maple/ebony purfling - a combination that is repeated with the soundhole rosette. It has an interestingly shaped headstock, and a very smooth ebony fingerboard with position markers on fretboard and down the sides.
I would strongly suggest upgrading the strings on this Breedlove concert to World of Ukes Clarity - which will give more projection, volume and sustain. This costs £10, and I promise, you'll get more value from the instrument with these strings than the cost of the upgrade! To do this, add the upgrade to your basket alongside the uke. http://worldofukes.co.uk/merchandise/clarity-fitted-strings
A branded gig bag is included.
