DISCONTINUED Eden Origin Solid Top Baritone Ukulele - A World of Ukes Brand
This model is no longer available.
This is the Eden Origin baritone ukulele, part of my range of Eden ukuleles that have been made to my specifications. The Edens are intended to provide good value models ideal for people looking for a step up in quality from basic models, but who remain budget conscious. This Eden Origin baritone has a solid cedar top, paired with very pretty laminate acacia used for the back and sides. There’s a gloss finish, reliable black-finished enclosed geared tuners and a rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
I have strung this baritone ukulele with Worth B-B fluorocarbon strings. These are all unwound strings, tuned DGBE (the regular baritone tuning). Because the bass strings are unwound, the bass notes are not as big in the mix, so while there’s still a traditional baritone warmth, the B and E strings really match up well in terms of volume and projection, giving a little more pep in the trebles. It’s not quiet, or overly loud - sitting around average… but the tone is rich and has some nice chime and interesting harmonics that give a more complex, mature sound.
Unlike the other sizes in the Eden Origin series, this instrument does not come with a gig bag. The prices quoted from the manufacturer were a little high, so I figured instead of adding a bag, I’d set the price very keenly so that a bag or cases could be added from the accessories section of the website if so required. If you check out what you can get at this price range, often instruments are all laminate, and if they do have a solid top, they tend to look very plain. So with this one, you get a pleasing tone, much more in terms of visual appeal and a very reasonable price.
Some baritone ukuleles have a truss rod in the neck, allowing adjustments should the neck ever bend or bow. While this isn’t generally needed, the Eden Origin baritone does have a truss rod, accessed beneath the panel on the headstock, should it ever be needed. I’ve also gone for a wider, 38mm neck on this model.
Should you prefer a baritone with wound bass strings, as I re-string each model myself anyway, I’d be happy to use D’addario Nylthech strings instead (with a D and G that are metal wound). When you check out, you can choose either Worth or D’addario.
If you click additional info below, you can watch a demo video of this ukulele, using both the Worth and the D’addario options.
