Maestro UT-CO CSB C8 All Solid 8-String Tenor Ukulele
These models are no longer available at World of Ukes.
This is the Maestro UT-CO 8-string tenor ukulele, handmade in Singapore. The full name is UT-CO CSB C8, but that's a little clunky... What isn't clunky is the sleek lines, beautiful wood choices and striking Florentine cutaway.
Although regularly fitted with Aquila strings, I've re-fitted this instrument with a set of Living Water strings, with all fluorocarbon strings in 8-string format. With these fitted the sustain is heightened and while there's great richness from the Low G, the overall tone is more folky and balanced, with the deepness not overwhelming the sound.
The UT-CO 8-string tenor ukulele is made from individually voiced tonewoods - which is a fancy term to state that their head luthier Hozen individually selects the woods that make up the instrument, testing for resonance. The top is lovely tight-grain Western red cedar, which is paired with attractive dark Cocobolo, which has similar properties to rosewood. This is finished in gloss.
Good quality geared tuners are fitted, as you'd expect on an instrument at this price level, and there's a side sound port which gives you a little extra dose of that lovely shimmering tone when you play. To finish things off, a top quality brown fitted hard case with cream plush lining is included. The nut width on all Maestro tenor ukes is 37mm.
