This is a fine example of Wales-based luthier Pete Howlett’s craft, the result of exhaustive research and development over years to create a wonderful sounding, aesthetically pleasing tenor electro ukulele. This thin-bodied tenor instrument looks the epitome of the modern ukulele, with its sleek lines, cutaway body and oval soundhole, together with the Howlett logo and inlaid shell motif on attractive kingwood fingerboard.

The uke is equipped with a quality passive pickup, which gives you a natural amplified tone that is then only limited to what you plug into, working particularly well with an effects unit or pre-amp to shape to tone to your liking. The Madagascan rosewood bridge is fitted with bridge pins, holding the Worth Brown strings in place.

The tone is remarkable - like magic. It has good volume and much more than you’d think with such a thin body, delivering a harmonically rich and slightly mellow tone, but with enough treble punch to deliver an articulate, well balanced listening experience.

The Revelator is a revelation from Pete Howlett, the culmination of a lifetime of experimentation and development. While understandably, other luthiers have stuck to tweaking classic designs, Pete has stuck his neck out and pushed things forward with constant innovation over decades of instrument making. The Revelator is a fine legacy for these efforts.

These instruments aren’t supplied with a case, but the Risa hard case is a good fit.
