Solwayer UK-Made Jazz Bass Ukulele COMING SOON
This was a one off ukulele, which has now been sold.
This is a simply stunning jazz bass ukulele, handmade in the UK. It looks a real beauty but the real star is the great, focused sound - rich in mid range and trebles as well as a solid bass. This gives it superb tone for bassists who are at a level where they're not just wanting to play a background instrument, but to venture into finger-style and slap bass techniques. If you want bass ukulele for a bass solo - this is the beast for you.
This lovely Solwayer Jazz Bass has been built by John Pearson, a fantastic player himself - and, judging by this output, someone who can build things with absolute precision. It is flawless, it really is. A hand-shaped maple neck, tulip wood body, and even handmade metal components like the custom, chromed bridge plate, control plate and back plate.
With a high gloss nitro cellulose finish, great styling and a custom made scratchplate, it looks the business. D'addario roundwound EXL156 strings and a 24 3/4" scale length combine for great playability and sound, and the Iron Gear Steel Foundy neck pickup means it recreates a lovely jazz bass tone.
I first came across this instrument when listening to John play his own prototype with the band Slaves of Venus. Good as they were as a whole, what you couldn't escape was the simply stunning sound of the bass player.
This is a one off instrument, but commissions can be built too, if you want to get in touch.
