DISCONTINUED World of Ukes Zedro III Limited Edition Tenor Ukulele
I am discontinuing this model to concentrate on a new, premium brand that is in the pipeline, so am clearing my remaining stock at a bargain price.
This is the World of Ukes Zedro III tenor ukulele, a solid cedar top uke with laminate zebrawood back and sides. It is a reboot of my first foray into my own ukulele - the Omega Zedro III. This was always well received and I often speak to people who still have, and love theirs. That was back in 2014 and these days, some of those existing Zedro ukes have displayed some wear on the cedar top - so this updated edition has a durable and very handsome gloss finish.
The original Zedro was fairly plain so there's a little extra on the decoration front this time around. The soundhole decoration is an attractive gloss black, with yellow, red and black purfling around the edge. The body binding matches this rosette, and the smooth ebony fingerboard is bound with mahogany to ensure nice smooth fret edges. The headstock is the same unique shape of the original Zedro, with a rosewood cap and a maple etched World of Ukes logo.
This tenor ukulele is fitted with clear fluorocarbon strings, an ebony bridge with a compensated saddle, and good quality Korean open geared tuners - a really durable and smooth turning set. It feels comfortable to play with an average nut width of 35mm and a familiar feeling c-shaped neck profile.
The tone has a bit of everything for everyone! There's a definite crispness and excellent note separation, with good volume too. Depending on how you play, you can tease out plenty of brightness, or get a bit more mellow quality if you dial things down a little with the pad of the thumb.
The sound is mature and very pretty indeed, making this an ideal ukulele for those who want to step up in quality without spending a fortune. This is a strictly limited edition (a genuine one - as opposed to those you see that were limited editions years ago and somehow are still available now!)
