Ukulele Citybreaks - Manchester - 16-17 October at Lock 91
This is the first in a series of ukulele events based in major cities, a Manchester-based weekend of ukulele fun and learning.
Ukulele citybreaks are based around one central venue, where ukulele entertainment is provided from artists, together with included workshops and a chance to sing and strum together. In this case, the venue is Lock 91 in the centre of the city, on Century Street. A private event space has been reserved for our party in this cool building - formerly a lock-keeper’s residence.
There will be music from Warehouse of Thieves, Marc Gallagher and Ukulele Saz, with workshops from each too. We also have Tim Smithies and his late night speakeasy with comedy, music, magic and mayhem, and sessions where we’ll all sing and play together from our Ukulele Events songbook.
The event begins on the evening of Friday 16 October, and continues all day on the Saturday, finishing late on the Saturday night. The tickets include all of the gigs, playalongs, workshops and entertainment.
Due to the central location, there is a vast array of different accommodation available nearby, as well as a huge number of restaurants. This event doesn’t include food but the programme will allow time to go into town to eat while we get the venue ready for the next part of the show!
The idea behind these weekends is to provide ukulele fun and entertainment in a city centre setting that you might visit for a weekend anyway. So you get a citybreak in a vibrant and interesting location - but it just so happens you can play, sing, learn and listen to a host of ukulele goodness as well!
