This Phil Jones amp is designed to be used with a bass or other instruments. Phil Jones is known for excellent bass gear, and innovative products - and this is no different, a compact combo amp that fits (just about) in the palm of your hand (if you have a big hand like me!) The fact is offers a compact option for bass players is what attracted me to it. I needed one for the store, and so I got some extras in too!

In terms of power, this 35 watt amp is ideal for home practice and small group rehearsals and performances. We’re talking living room size, rather than village hall - but the tone is great. And while yes, I got it as a bass amp and that’s what I want it and use it for, it does work nicely with other instruments too - so if you have an electro ukulele in your collection, it’ll work with this too.

It is mains operated, coming with the required power supply, and has an auxilliary channel and bluetooth capability, allowing you to stream music from your phone or plug-in device, so you can jam over the top. The input is a standard jack lead one (not supplied). There are effective tone and volume controls, which offer good variation. It weighs around 2.3kg.

I don’t really play bass, but when I used one of these with a Tiny Bass… well, it made me want to get a lot better as it was a lot of fun!
