aNueNue US-100 Sitka Bird Solid Spruce & Mahogany Soprano Ukulele
It's certainly a pretty little thing, this aNueNue US-100 Bird Series soprano ukulele. With the distinctive cutaway shape of the Bird Series, it has a solid sitka spruce top and solid African mahogany back and sides. To some degree it's a bit like the celebrated Moon Bird (which is significantly more money), and possesses the same impressive bass response and depth of that model. But the US-100 soprano has a more vintage-style tone, with a gorgeous softness and mellow nature. It's rich and warm, but still articulate - a really different sort of sound.
With a gloss finish, the US-100 looks smart an abalone soundhole decoration, ebony faceplate and mahogany binding. The nut width is 36mm, with a slightly radiussed fretboard making it feel light and comfortable to play. Unlike the concert and tenor version of this 100 series uke, this soprano has excellent rear-facing Gotoh UPT tuners, which look like friction pegs but work with gears.
The aNueNue US-100 has a brilliant gig bag with it, but for common extras, like strap buttons and straps, scroll to the bottom of the page.
This is a really interesting uke - a breath of fresh air, and testament to the innovation of aNueNue, coming up with a uke that sounds so different - really piano-like in sound. Good stuff!
