The aNueNue US-200HB Hummingbird soprano ukulele is a truly gorgeous thing. Of course, your head is going to be turned by the decoration, but at no point should you forget that this is a truly premium, delightful-sounding soprano uke. It’s the essence of modern design in ukuleles - giving a sweet, full sound, with great sustain and surprising depth for such a small instrument. The low end tone that it can deliver is always a surprise for a soprano… and the balance it achieves with strong, sweet trebles is really stunning.

The US-200HB is based on the aNueNue Moon Bird soprano, with solid rosewood back and sides and solid moon spruce on the top (spruce harvested in the Alps according to the moon cyles so the trees are cut when the wood is at it’s driest - accelerating the seasoning process). It’s top of the tree when it comes to… um… trees!

It has a very well applied, thin gloss finish, and a unique body shape with lovely, modern-looking binding. The nut width is 36mm and the playability is excellent, with beautifuly smooth, slightly radiussed frets. The Hummingbird soprano is fitted with top quality Grover UPT tuners and aNueNue’s own black water fluorocarbon strings, which are a great match for this uke. It is also supplied with a blue hard case which is pretty in its own right.

And then of course there’s the decoration which I have left til last, in part to get across keenly that this is a lovely uke to play and to listen to first and foremost. The fantastically applied inlays are professionally, excquisitely done, with hours of painstaking work involved. They make the uke look exotic, as well as sounding like heaven too.
