The aNueNue US10 BB soprano ukulele is a nice, smart and well made bit of kit. Yes, it looks different, and at lot of care has been given to its appearance. However, the main thing to note is that it’s a nice sounding ukulele that’s pleasant to play. On the one hand, the most important thing is the sound (and this does well in that regard), and on the other, as long as the sound is good where’s the harm in it looking a bit flash! Add in the fact that for a solid top ukulele, in a really nice gig bag, the aNueNue US-10 isn’t a bad price either.

With a solid spruce top and laminate back and sides, there’s plenty of brightness and clarity to the tone, aided by the excellent aNueNue clear water fluorocarbon strings that are fitted. The tuners are geared and do the job well, while this model, called Black Beauty, has a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. In your hands it feels unchallenging, with a 35mm standard width neck. A scratch guard is built in to protect the top from your strumming hand too.

The Colour Series from aNueNue are definitely eyecatching, but underneath all the fanciness is a really nice uke at a price when often what you get is a laminate, not a solid top instrument like this. And, with its very neat build and aNueNue pedigree, it’s a really good buy.
