Millar TA-210LG All Solid Acacia Long Neck Soprano Ukulele - Gloss
This handmade Taiwanese ukulele has a soprano body and concert scale length - giving you more of a traditional soprano sound, with a bit more room afforded by the concert length neck. Having brought out the TA-210L, a satin version of this uke, there's now a high gloss version with identical specification, the Millar TA-210LG. They're not short of a long neck soprano in their range... but still, this one is very pretty with the gloss making that lovely acacia grain stand out.
This ukulele is made from very pretty, ll solid acacia, with a rosewood fingerboard and a tidy, petite bridge. It has Worth Clear strings, which give a nice pep and bring some brightness to the 'medium-warm' qualities of the tonewood. This makes the whole package sound nicely balanced. When playing this I thought about inventing a story, saying the first known ukulele belonged to Good King Wenceslas and this Millar is modelled on his instrument. Because this TA-210LG sounds deep and crisp and even. Then I thought better of it. As that would be silly.
The TA-210LG long neck soprano has a 35mm nut width, with a slightly flattened portion under the first couple of frets that I find very comfortable as an anchor point for your thumb when playing common chords. A small detail, but a good one. It also has good quality Der Jung brand geared tuners which are nice and smooth.
