Ohana PK-70G All Solid Pineapple Soprano Ukulele
The Ohana PK-70G is a beautiful looking pineapple soprano uke, with lots of pretty finishing touches, and an all solid tonewood construction - meaning all that decoration is nice, but secondary to an impressive tone.
As well as the solid mahogany back and sides, there's a good quality solid spruce top. With a larger resonating surface than a regular soprano, this uke delivers a really good sound, with some richness in the background, underneath some crisp, well projected trebles. It also keeps the traditional 'bark' that Ohana seem to get out of all of their soprano models.
Ohana have gone all out with the decoration. There is an abundance of abalone, around the body next to the rosewood binding, and also around the rosewood capped headstock. It also appears around the soundhole. Bling city!
There's a 35mm nut, which is the same as a Kala tenor, meaning things aren't too tight on the fingerboard. It has Aquila strings and a nicely shaped end to the fretboard which ties in nicely with the soundhole decoration.
This pineapple gives a fuller sound than the equivalent regular shape soprano, and it looks great too in your collection. If you've considered adding a pineapple uke to your collection, you could do a lot worse than this lovely PK-70G.
If you want to know the difference between this and the TPK-70G - this one is a soprano, and that’s the sopranino version (the T stands for tiny!)
