Ohana SK-35G All Solid Mahogany Soprano Ukulele
Ohana’s SK-35G soprano ukulele is part of their very popular, gloss finished solid mahogany 35 series. It’s been around for some time, but as the saying goes, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. It’s a nice looking soprano uke, with a good tone and is available at a price that doesn’t break the bank - it’s actually pretty economical for an all solid ukulele.
The tone has some mahogany warmth, but still plenty of soprano sparkle. It’s got a decent amount of volume, projects nicely and, in common with many of Ohana’s soprano line-up, a fair amount of traditional vintage soprano ‘bark’.
It’s fitted with Aquila strings and geared tuners, and looks pleasant too with rosewood binding and a simple soundhole rosette.
In a way, I don’t think I’ve really given this instrument the credit it deserves with that description. It’s not the best uke there is… no, but it’s an excellent value instrument that performs really well, at a price where some brands are giving you a fancy looking laminate uke.
