Ohana SK-38 All Solid Mahogany Soprano Ukulele
This is a tribute to a Martin Style 2 ukulele, a vintage look, all solid mahogany soprano uke with cream binding and a three crowned headstock. The Ohana SK-38 does a good job of mimicking the old Martin style, with its lightweight construction making the instrument nice and resonant, punchy and full-sounding.
There’s a satin finish and a nice, dark mahogany stain, which looks authentic, and to be true to form as well, the SK-38 is fitted with friction pegs. These are effective, if a little ‘fussy’ to fine tune (though perfectly possible). I’m not talking specifically about these pegs, which are decent, but friction pegs in general here!
The Ohana SK-38 has a 35mm nut and is fitted with Aquila strings. Most Ohana ukuleles are fitted with Aquila strings so it’s hard to say they’ve been specifically chosen to emulate old gut strings and increase the SK-38’s vintage vibe by providing a traditional old-school ‘bark’. However, they do that job, intentional or not!
These Ohana ukes do not come with a bag or case, but they’re options you can add further down this page, along with other extras like strap buttons.
