Uma UK-20SSP Black All Solid Mahogany Pineapple Soprano Ukulele
This is nice looking pineapple soprano, an all solid mahogany ukulele. It features a pleasant dark semi transparent stain, allowing you to see through to the wood grain, with added shine from the gloss and some attractive paler areas where the grain of the wood is a little lighter.
This instrument is supplied with a stylish grey gig bag, and has geared tuners and fluorocarbon strings. It's light to play, comfortable at the nut especially and I adjust these so that the action is nice and smooth - something they like. (As in, they don't give me problems with buzzing if I lower the action to a very playable height). There's a slotted headstock which is stylish too. I've read some comments about these being too heavy for a soprano, but actually, I think it seems absolutely fine when you factor in the larger, more rounded body which acts as a counterweight. Either way, I pick it up and don't think about it, suggesting there's no issues there!
The sound is sparkly in the highs, and more rounded in the lows than the equivalent soprano uke without the pineapple shape. It makes for a very attractive sounding combination, with richness from the solid wood, warmth from the pineapple shape, sustain from the fluorocarbon strings and sweet trebles from... well... from the fact it's a little soprano! It’s not the loudest uke out there, but it is very pretty sounding!
This comes with a bag so you're OK there, but for other extras, like strap button fitting or a strap, there are some common bits and pieces you can easily add at the bottom of the page. Or have a look in the accessories section of this site for more options.
