These Uma all solid acacia soprano ukuleles use lovely sets of all solid wood to make a really attractive looking ukulele. It positively radiates under the gloss finish, with the decoration adding to the sparkle, with both abalone inlays and a maple soundhole rosette. There’s rosewood binding too, plus a slotted headstock. No, it’s not a shrinking violet when it comes to its aesthetics! But luckily it’s a lovely sounding uke as well.

The solid acacia gives a shimmer and a sweetness, while the pineapple body shape decorates this with some fruity warmth (actually, ignore the ‘fruity’ remark there, I just had pineapples on my mind when writing it). The fluorocarbon strings fitted add a shine and a sparkle, for an overall sound that’s nicely balanced and harmonically rich. Like most acacia ukes it’s laid back, sweet and rounded rather than punchy, bright and loud. Though it’s got decent volume - if not as much as Uma’s mahogany equivalent UK-20SSP.

I set these ukes up to play very nicely indeed - and the light gauge of the strings means only gentle pressure is needed, making them ideal for beginners and people with hand problems. However, you don’t have to be a new starter or have arthritis to benefit from a slick-playing uke of course!

The UK-30SSP from Uma comes with a nice padded gig bag, a grey bag with 10mm padding and an accessory pocket, that looks neat and smart.

At the bottom of the page are various easy to add extras, standard across every page on this site. You can ignore the cases as it has that smart gig bag (and ignore the hard case to as this won’t fit a regular hard case). You can add strap buttons there if you wish, or a low G. I am not the biggest fan of low G on a soprano but if you want to do it, the Fremont option is the one to go for as it has a bit more tension - so won’t feel floppy like a fluorcarbon low G would.
