Kala F8-MGH-S Pan Pacific All Solid Mahogany Soprano Ukulele
This is the Kala F8-MGH-S, one of the Pan Pacific ukuleles that Kala produce. This is a model that first appeared in 2025 in all solid koa and solid koa top versions, using some wood sets put by by Kala owner Mike Upton, and sold as limited editions (which really took off). This version, the F8-MGH-S is a new model that can be reproduced going forward, using all solid mahogany. So it’s based on the limited edition but is a regular model going forward, if that makes sense.
The Pan Pacific features a traditional figure of 8 style body, with an attractive rope style soundhole rosette. It has a gloss finish, but a more traditional type - not your highly polished mirror gloss. It also has a cool decal on the headstock showing two arm wrestlers - something which the town of Petaluma in California - where Kala are based - is famous for. You learn something every day!
The Kala F8-MGH-S has a 35mm nut and is provided with a good padded gig bag. It is equipped with Der Jung rear facing geared tuners and comes with Savarez strings - strings which have good sustain but a thicker, meatier sound, something that suits the mahogany - with enough tension to give you a good traditional soprano bark, but also to accentuate the warm tones of the wood.
At the bottom of the page you’ll find some standard optional extras, like strap buttons, that can be added to an order. These are the same for all pages on the site, so you can ignore the option to add a gig bag as this comes with a nice one already.
