EX DISPLAY Ohana Custom Shop DB-SQM Solid Spruce and Maple Baritone Ukulele
This is a new ukulele - in that it has never been owned. It is in other ways, not new - as it was a nice discovery during my recent premises move. Previously unadvertised but brought in in 2024, it has been sat in its hard case waiting for its chance to shine! (Please don’t judge me on the fact I forgot to advertise this instrument - there’s always a lot going on!)
It did go out on display briefly at the Ukulele Festival of Great Britain - but on account of me taking about 130 ukes with me, it didn’t get much playing time, and is unmarked or scratched. I have listed the ‘new’ price as what one costs now. Although at the time this was closer to £1,999 than £2,499 (just for clarity!)
This is an Ohana Custom Shop instrument, made in California by their luthier Brad. It has a solid spruce top and solid maple back and sides, with a maple neck. The strings are all unwound, DGBE, from Living Water, with excellent geared tuners and a 38mm nut width.
The sound is full and mellow, a real low end monster of a uke. There’s volume from the spruce, but the combination of the unwound strings and the solid maple give it a more relaxed, warming resonance.
It’s a significant thing! It’s on the heavier side - a ‘muscular uke’, you might call it, but very playable and resonant.
