B-STOCK VTAB FL-T15 Tenor Ukulele
This is a new laminate instrument - new… sort of. Following my recent premises move I have discovered lots of problem ukes that I need to finally do something with. This one is probably 6 years old and I was unable to get the action as low as I’d like. It’s just over 3mm. It's fine to play but not as good as I’d usually like. The reason for this is the top of the uke has bellied out a little, raising the height of the bridge. The saddle is as low as it can go but there’s no room for it to go lower. As I say, over half a decade has elapsed with it being in a box awaiting me doing something with it - so it’s not getting any worse!
This is the VTAB-FL-T15 tenor ukulele, the updated model that has improved black, geared tuners. The previous ones had a tendency to tarnish - but these are spot on.
These VTAB ukes have quite a broad, large body, which could well be responsible for the impressive volume it delivers. It is a very handsome ukulele too, with lots going on for such a low price. The gloss finish is very nice, and it features both maple binding down the side of the fingerboard and faux tortoiseshell binding on the body.
The tone is fairly punchy, but not at all brittle, with a mellow edge to the tone and above average sustain too.
It comes with a pin bridge, geared tuners and this one is fitted with Worth Brown strings strings, plus a compensated saddle. It is an ideal instrument for a beginner looking for the best tone they can get at a really budget price - or someone looking for something pretty to add to their collection as a back-up instrument.
Please note - items in my special orders section can only be ordered online, and can't be tried in store. Also, they're available to UK customers only.
