It is a solid body tenor uke with an active pickup. When played without, there’s enough volume for quiet practice, but it’s made to be used with an amp. This is the maple version (they also do a acacia one - and I can’t detect enough difference between them to suggest, if choosing them between them, anything other than picking the one you like the look of most).

The benefit of these instruments is that they don’t suffer from feedback, because there’s no soundbox, so when plugged in, it’s ideal with using with effects, and particularly, distortion. That’s not to say it doesn’t sound nice when it’s clean, or used with other effects.

The uke has a 35mm nut width and is fitted with D’addario Clear Nylon strings and comes with a fitted gig bag (handy as it’s a thin body).
