This is a great buy - a wider neck tenor electro model, with a solid top and a gig bag for a bargain price. Koki’o is the house brand of the company that makes Risa ukuleles in Germany. These are Chinese made instruments from a factory that produces instruments for Kala as well - so while they were at the full price, it didn’t make great sense to import them from Germany. But now, as the line has been disocontinued, well, it’s a real bargain.

These ukes have a solid spruce top, laminate (very pretty) maple back and sides and an active pickup with built in tuner and EQ. They also have excellent clear fluorocarbon strings and the neck is a wider 37.5mm. (I have seen these advertised at 36mm elsewhere but my digital calipers say otherwise!). There’s a lightly padded gig bag as well.

The Koki’o tenor has that thing that good quality, lightly built solid spruce tops have - great attack and brightness, combined with a good bass response. While the overall sound is powerful and bright, there’s more ‘oomph’ at the bottom end than many spruce instruments.
