ONE-OFF Kala Vintage Metropolitan Bell Mahogany Soprano Ukulele
This is the Vintage Metropolitan Shrine Mahogany Soprano Ukulele from Kala, also known as the KA-VMET-BELL-MHG-S. Not known as that by anyone human, who would probably just call it the Kala Bell.
This is Kala’s description:
The Bell shape soprano is a careful reproduction of the 1920s “Bell” ukulele, down to its rounded silhouette, cream celluloid binding and rosette, and signature pin bridge. All solid mahogany construction gives it a warm, woody voice with an earthy midrange, perfect for a vintage-inspired soprano. Metropolitan-level finish and appointments give a modern touch. Designed for collectors and serious players who want the soul of a historical instrument that’s accessible and built for daily use.
A handful were made to find out if there was a market for them. One of them got to the UK. This is that one. Is there a market? Who knows. It certainly sounds decent but I don’t think I’d pay the full price for one. I think if you’re a collector or have a particular interest in the jazz era, then this is a lovely instrument for you.
It has a gig bag, which is a good thing - especially as it is fitted to this particular instrument.
Please note - items in my special orders section can only be ordered online, and can't be tried in store. Also, they're available to UK customers only.
