I have a small number of these brand new bass amplifiers available. If you’re here browsing my special offer section then you’re probably prone to looking for a bargain. I am no different and when I saw these on offer from a supplier at a great price, I thought I would snap a few up.

It’s a mains powered 20 watt bass combo amp, ideal for practice at home, rehearsals or small performances. (When I say small, I think as part of a duo or trio rather than a full ukulele group - it has plenty of volume but it’s compact, so it’s not a massive big hall-falling sound).

The reason I think they’re idea for practice at home is they make it more interesting with a series of effects - chorus, octave and echo. I really like the chorus effect and the echo, both really performing well. The octave effect… well… I can take or leave that. Every note it gives you an octave below what you’re playing, so a bass becomes very bassy (and a bit too bassy to be practical really - to be honest, when testing it I thought it wasn’t very useful, but the others are good).

It also has a series of 8 different amp models. This is an easy to use knob on the unit that you turn to recreate the sound of classic bass amps through history. (To be honest, I don’t know much about famous bass amps, but it basically generates a series of different tones, at the turn of a knob - so that’s fun to experiment with).

You can also change the bass and the treble with separate knobs, and there’s a gain knob as well - which you can leave off for a clean sound or change to get a crunchier, dirtier, more distorted sound. (More fun).

Also, it works perfectly well with a ukulele as well - so you don’t have to just use it for a bass uke - you can plug any electro acoustic or solid body electric uke into it and enjoy the effects as well. I suppose it makes sense to only get one if you do have a bass (ukulele or guitar), to get the most out of it. But there’s a flexibility to use it for a regular uke (or a guitar) as well.
