USED Vintage Bruko Octave Guitar
This is a curious thing - an octave guitar from German manufacturer Bruko. It’s a similar size to a concert ukulele, but with 6 strings - tuned E to E like a guitar, but everything a full octave above where a guitar sits. It gives a bright, sparkly and mandolin-like sound. If you can play it, which I can’t really… although I had fun trying. It sounds actually pretty good but 6 strings on such a small instrument was a step too far for me - though I could make a nice noise using the lower strings as drones, or playing chords that only used fingers on 2-4 of the strings at once.
This one is an older model - probably 1990’s, although I do not know this (but have been told the white soundhole insert was discontined then, so if that info is correct it’s ‘vintage’ - despite me being grumpy at the 90’s being called vintage as that was my golden era!)
It looks good - it’s curious, it’s fun. You can still get strings for it (Pyramid octave guitar steel strings). It’s pretty cool. It’s not the easiest to play. But it’s probably something you don’t have in your collection yet!
The action isn’t unplayable but is fairly high and I can’t lower it as the bridge is wooden and the strings rest onto the wood, not a bone saddle. I’ll clean it and service the tuners, and check the frets - but my set up can’t be as extensive as it normally would.
Sorry I can’t send anything from my special offers section to the EU.
