aNueNue UT-188 Feather Bird All Solid Sapele and Acacia Ukulele
This is the aNueNue UT-188MB, from their Feather Bird series, a tenor ukulele that, I am sure you’ll agree, looks pretty special! And it is special, both on the eye and to the ear, with a lovely balanced sound that sparkles at the top and fills out with some mahogany-esque warmth at the bottom.
As I am writing this it is 7pm on a Friday evening. I find myself imagining what people who have lives might be doing now. Socialising, relaxing, or maybe down at the pub having a nice refreshing pint. And it could be that I’d drift off into lamenting the fact I’m sat alone at work, sipping coffee that’s gone cold. And then I look up and see the Moana Blue hues of the Feather Bird sparkling on the wall. I observe the gentle, perfectly executed sunburst that picks out the pattern of the solid quilted sapele top like perfect clouds. I get up and turn it over and see the contrast of the warm, flamed grain of the solid acacia back and sides. I see this all highlighted by maple binding and glittering under a perfect gloss finish. And I think to myself. Yeah, I’d still rather be at the pub. But a beautiful tenor uke like this is a good consolation!
The Feather Bird has a 36.5mm nut width, is fitted with aNueNue Blue Moon high G fluorcarbon strings (I mean it had to be right? They’re good AND they’re blue). And comes with a navy, very smart and luxurious hard case.
At the bottom of the page you’ll find a series of optional extras you can easily add, although you won’t need a bag or case on account of the excellent hard case provided with this model. You might though opt for a low G, or strap buttons.
There’s some good punch in the trebles from this uke, so it’d make a great low G candidate, as well as a sparkling-sounding high G uke. There’s enough in that top end to balance out a low G nicely.
