aNueNue UT-3KR Feather Bird All Solid Koa and Rosewood Tenor Ukulele
With this UT-3KR Feather Bird, aNueNue have created yet another gem for both the eyes and the ears. It has the now-iconic cutaway body shape first seen on their flagship Moon Bird, and continued now with a whole flock of different birds! This latest one is part of their Feather Bird series, which features a smoothed off heel of the satin-finish neck, giving better access and comfort when playing higher up the neck. This series features a slotted headstock too and comes with an excellent, navy hard case. (The colour, it doesn’t float!)
Stunning solid Hawaiian koa is used for the top, with a gorgeous honeyed hue and fine flaming and grain. This is paired with solid rosewood back and sides, separated with maple binding. There’s some added sparkle with an abalone soundhole decoration too. The whole thing (with the exception of the back of the neck) has a perfect gloss finish which is very shiny indeed. In fact, you can see me reflected in the back on the photos, just to prove the mirror-like nature of the finish! (Don’t worry, I won’t be there anymore if you get one).
There’s great sustain and harmonic richness, with a shine and shimmer from the evenly balanced koa, and more depth added to the mix from the solid rosewood and aNueNue’s innovative bracing. It’s not a cheap ukulele, true, but it has a mature, modern tone which is frankly quite beautiful.
There are quality geared tuners, aNueNue black water fluorocarbon strings and a nut width that’s just over 36.5mm.
At the bottom of the page you can find common add-ons like a low G or strap button fitting. Remember this one comes with a lovely hard case, so you don’t need to add anything to carry it in!
