This is the Enya EUT-E6/PK, a thinline, all solid flamed maple tenor electro ukulele. It uses the Enya AcousticPlus system, with built in effects. This can be used with an amp, as normal, with delay, reverb and chorus - but crucially, you can use it without an amp to. The E6 from Enya uses an actuator, using the body of the instrument as a natural amplifier, allowing you to use those effects without plugging in.

Enya’s EUT-E6 has, in the case of this ‘PK’ model, a pink stain on the body, which allows the maple grain to shine through, under a high gloss finish. There’s abalone inlay around the body and an intricate design on the fingerboard. Let’s face it, you are going to stand out with one of these in your hands - it’s an extrovert’s uke!

Although it’s thin body doesn’t make it the loudest ukulele out there, it does have ample acoustic volume and the tone is sweet and mellow. It has a wider, 38 mm nut width and comes with a quite fantastic gig bag. The gold coloured geared tuners are high quality and it is fitted with D’addario Titanium strings (which are monofilament nylon, not titanium, confusingly!).

A ukulele purist is not going to like this. But if you have an eye for flair, and aren’t a shrinking violet, this is a uke that looks like nothing else. Underneath all the fanciness it’s a very good instrument, with lots of versatility and those effects being played without an amplifier? Well, that’s just downright fun.
