This Enya EUT-MS tenor ukulele is an all solid mahogany uke which looks good, with some pretty design features - but it sounds good too with an open, warm tone and plenty of volume. It is bound to draw comparisons with the gloss finish Enya model, the EUT-MAD, which is also blue and made from the same materials, but in terms of sound it definitely holds its own (and actually has a bit more volume and perhaps a slightly fuller tone as the satin finish allows the top to vibrate a little more freely). True, it’s mahogany and that’s a tonewood that has a more mellow, darker sound, but it still packs a punch.

This Enya tenor has an abalone soundhole rosette and, as you can see, a deep blue stain. The headstock has some inlays in a flower petal design that are very well excecuted. They’ll not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they’re certainly pretty!

The EUT-MS is supplied with D’addario Titanium strings and a decent gig bag, and the uke has a wider, 37mm nut width. It plays nicely too, when set up. I keep stumbling across a prominent YouTuber who states that Enya ukuleles always have a low action from the box, so you’re safe to order from Amazon. Either that’s not accurate or I’ve been incredibly unluckly, and the few hundred Enya ukes I’ve seen all happened to be one-offs that slipped through the net with an action that was fairly high! Anyway… I suppose I WOULD promote the benefits of ordering from a ukulele specialist who check everything and adjust the action at the nut and the saddle. But honestly… they CAN play much better, and I will, in the words of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek, ‘make it so’.
