Enya Nova U Pro Tenor Electro Ukulele - Black
The black finish version of Enya's Nova U Pro tenor electro ukulele is a smart looking beast - more gun-metal great than black, with sleek design and a thin body. It's equipped with their AcousticPlus system, which in effect, allows you to get a small boost in volume and use built-in effects without an amplifier. (Though you can also plug into an amp and use the onboard effects too). This is how Enya describe it:
Enya AcousticPlus allows players to add sound effects from the instrument itself, with no external devices needed. Each Enya AcousticPlus instrument has a built-in actuator. This groundbreaking technology takes the string vibrations and enhances them to allow players to add sound effects from the instrument itself, with no external effects or amplification needed, providing a simple but effective way to process the natural sound.
So that's that cleared up!
Acoustically, there's decent volume too, with a good, clear and chiming tone. It has D'addario Titanium strings fitted, good quality geared tuners, a lightweight pod case and an accessory pack with capo and spare strings. The neck on this tenor uke is slightly wider than average too, at just shy of 38mm, making it navigable by those with larger fingertips (without major challenge by the daintier fingered either).
The body of the Nova U Pro is made from a mix of carbon fibre and polycarbonate - so effectively, plastic toughened with 40% carbon fibre to keep the top stiff and resonant and the structure sturdy and strong. The Pro version here is equipped with good quality, smooth-ended frets too.
