Kai KTI-700 Solid Cedar Top Tenor Ukulele
This KTI-700 has been a regular seller in the World of Ukes store. It is a favourite of mine and naturally, when customers arrive with a budget including this model, I’d suggest it. More often and not, my positive opinion was reaffirmed with a purchase. Finally, I’ve had one long enough to get this listing together!
Kai might be a newer name to many, but it is brought into the UK by Stones Music, who also import Risa, Magic Fluke and Baton Rouge. Mark, who runs Stones, is a friend of mine and has an eye for great ukes and this brand makes great ukes.
The level of finish is really high, with a stunning gloss finish on the body, with exotic looking red padauk binding, an interesting inlay on the fingerboard and an abalone soundhole rosette. The Kai KTI-700 also has a side soundhole, which really lets you hear the rich, sweet tone. The back and sides are laminate bocote, which really glows under the gloss. Lovely.
The KTI-700 concert has a 35mm nut and regular-feeling neck profile. Nothing at all to dislike in the way it plays. It has good quality geared tuners and smooth feeling fluorocarbon strings.
It even comes with a good quality gig bag, only adding to the already fantastic value.
For a pair of video demo of the KTI-700, click additional info below. (There’s a quick high G one, and a longer low G demo)
For common accessories and customisations (like strap buttons / low G fitting) scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll be able to add these common items to your basket. This uke has one strap button fitted already, so if you (like me) like just one, then you’re all set. If you want two please add two so I know you need two so I know you’ve seen that there’s one in place already and want a second at the heel of the neck).
