These Japanese made Kiwaya KPT-5K tenor ukuleles don't come around very often, given that the 5A grade koa used to make them is as rare as it is stunning. It shimmers and shines under the gloss finish, like a work of art in its own right.

The koa is complemented by maple binding and some lovely abalaone inlays, both alongside the binding and also around the soundhole. The 37mm nut is ideal for those who have larger hands, but is combined with quite a flat neck profile that suits those used to slightly thinner necks too (I for example, play a 35mm tenor, and love playing this Kiwaya too).

The KPT-5K comes with a good quality hard case, Worth Brown strings, a beautifully smooth ebony fingerboard and top notch Gotoh UPT tuners. The latter are superb, lightweight geared tuners than look like compact friction pegs but have gears to prevent slipping.

Of course, you can have all the beautiful wood in the world, combined with great specification... but if it doesn't sound great, there'd be no point. But there's no fears on that score with the KPC-5K - it is incredible. It sparkles and sings - almost like two ukes being played at once, such is the prettiness of the harmonics. Truly an exceptional tone.
